She was hungry, but she knew that if she had waited any longer she would have chickened out of the call. "It won't kill you to have fun. I don't mean reading a book, although words are lovely vessels for the mind. And oh, I hope you're remembering to have proper dinners now." Like when I cooked for you, she almost added but didn't.

She paused, took another deep, audible breath, and hung up.
